Artist Notes:
The Poison Dart Frog's skin is the most poisonous surface on the face of the planet.
Yet, this Mistress's Kiss could be even deadlier.
Don't heed to this siren's call.
Her embrace will be your last.

Title: Oleandra - Toxic Beauty

Title: Cecilia and the Centipede
Media: Ink, Watercolor, and Colored Pencils on Tea Stained Paper
Artist Notes:
Centipedes possess maxillipeds, a modified pair of front legs that curve around the head and behind the mandibles. Maxillipeds enter a victim's tissue and inject venom produced by a gland at their base. The bite of larger centipedes is very painful and can induce anaphylactic shock in some people.

Title: Leaves of Three
Media: Digital (Poser, Photoshop)
Artist Notes:
"Leaves of three, Let it be" -- and woe to any would-be tree-hugger who ignores that advice! This young dryad prefers her solitude, so she's cultivated a fresh covering of Toxicodendron Radicans--That's "poison ivy" to the non-botanical. Stay back. Leaves of three, let it be. (I've used the vine costume in an image before ('Tsuta') but I created a poison ivy version especially for 31 in 31: Poison.)

Title: 18 Seconds
Media: Acrylics, Gouache and Watercolours on Canvas
Artist Notes:
You see that I'm dying.
Poison is eating every part of my body.
My eyes are black, my bones are turning inside out!
Shutting your ears won't save you from hearing my voice in your head.
You feel the darkness.
Black clouds have shadowed every part of my mind.
My heart is black, my teeth are rotting one by one!
Let me drink the poison and I promise, I won't haunt you in your dreams.
Now count 18 seconds and sleep ...

Title: Cursed
Media: Rapidograph Koh-I-Noor Pens (Ink), Gel Pens, Acrylic Paint
Artist Notes:
Welcome to “Cursed”, my creation about a girl whose presence is poison to the touch of a flower and the natural life she comes in contact with. She gives an innocent stare of melancholy as she quickly tries to embrace life while handling flowers as her grasp shortens the longevity of their fate.
I like to explore different themes in my work. I often work with color to create symbolism. The use of color in “Cursed” represents two conflicting worlds. While exploring the theme of poison I wanted to create a dialogue of life and death.
*Credits: Specials thanks to *faestock http://faestock.deviantart.com/ for providing stock http://bit.ly/bcBVXv which has made "Cursed" possible.

Oleander is one of the most poisonous/common garden plants, and can be very toxic if ingested in sufficient quantity, and the Crow Butterfly/Larvae feed on the poisonous plant in hopes of warding off predators.

Title: Illiana - Forbidden Alchemist

An alchemist by spirit and magic, her primary study is in poison like her late father before her..

Artist: Laura Congiu
Country: Italy
Title: Fugu
Media: Painter + Photoshop
Artist Notes:
"Fugu" is the Japanese word for blowfish; quite funny-and-tasty-looking... but actually very poisonous and potentially lethal if not prepared rightly. Here also depicted as a colorful, but very frail, paper kite, to represent this precarious balance. And the girl's kimono is intentionally worn in the "wrong" way, with the right side over the left side, as in Japan they make only dead people wear it...
